What’s Next?

Thank you to our donors, partners, volunteers and trustees who help us empower the next generation. To date, we have delivered 63 programmes at 38 different schools to 1,575 children! We have also organised programmes for Children’s Services and Youth Adventure Trust.

We aren’t slowing down. With our expanded team and the backing of our incredible partners, we’re aiming to reach even more children in our community as we head into the spring!

2026 Kick-Off: New Funding, New Faces, and 144 Brighter Futures!

What a way to start the year! We’re only three months into 2026, and the momentum is already incredible. Thanks to a surge of support from our community and funding partners, we’ve been hitting the ground running to make this our most impactful year yet.

More Schools, More Impact

In just the first quarter, our team has already visited five schools, with 144 more children now benefitting from our initiatives.

None of this would be possible without the generous support of our early 2026 funding partners:

  • Mynydd Y Gwair Local Community Fund
  • Postcode Community Trust
  • 1910 Trust
  • Hodge Bank

Securing Our Future

We are also thrilled to announce that we have secured vital core funding from The Principality Future Generations Fund.

“Core funding is the backbone of what we do. It allows us to plan for the long term, reach deeper into our community, and ensure our programmes remain sustainable for the years to come.”

Growing the Team

With more funding comes the ability to grow our capacity. We are absolutely delighted to introduce the newest member of our team: Lucy Aur, BA, MA, PhD.

Lucy brings a wealth of expertise to the table, and her appointment means we have more “boots on the ground” to support the children and schools in our network. If you see her out and about at one of our upcoming sessions, be sure to give her a warm welcome!

Call of the Wild Development Trust Awarded UKSPF Funding to Expand Resilience Programmes

In 2025, we were lucky to be awarded funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund which allowed us to have a full on action packed few months delivering our Resilience Programme.

The UKSPF funding covered 9 programmes in 6 different schools within Neath Port Talbot. Our aim was to help children become the best, most confident versions of themselves. This is done through outdoor team challenges, hands-on problem-solving tasks and an adventure day! Through our programme, they learn the life skills needed to take the big leap into secondary school and beyond. We began visiting schools in September and by the end of December 231 children had participated in our programme!

These funded programmes combine adventures, team-building exercises and practical coping strategies to help participants develop confidence, teamwork and resilience – essential qualities that support them through key life transitions.

As the programme progressed, through creative sessions and presentations, even the quietest children found their voices and built a new sense of confidence.

For many of the children, this was the first time they had experienced anything like this, particularly hiking and rock climbing. Feedback from pupils and educators has been overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting increased confidence and enthusiasm for new challenges following their participation. Many children also asked for the programme to return and be run for even longer, indicating its impact! The project has also strengthened partnerships with schools and local children’s services, paving the way for future collaborative work.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support from the UKSPF, which has enabled us to grow our impact and continue empowering young people across the region with the resilience to thrive in life’s challenges.
